Meet the Team
The Therapist
Alexia Maitland, BSC, RP
I am a human like all of you who has lived a life with ups and downs and in between. I believe that our humanity is the common thread that connects us all.
My background is in Environmental Science imparted a deep understanding of the scientific method. Although I practice evidence based mental health techniques, I do not believe that the work we do in session should be sterile and clinical in nature. I encourage a holistic healing process and have a number of other service providers I recommend to clients.
My office is an inclusive space that is warm and comforting. Clients are encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, take off their shoes, put their feet up, grab a fidget, weighted blanket, heat pad, jolly rancher, or grounding bracelet, whatever makes them comfortable.
I know its controversial these days, but I will likely drink water, coffee and maybe even a diet coke in session with you but the good news is that I will get you one too. I even have snacks if you need something to take the edge off while we talk.
I am a mom of two who loves plants and cooking.

You
The most important person in our work together is you. Without your desire and commitment to healing I am nothing. It takes bravery to embark on a healing journey. The mere act of acknowledging it may be something helpful for you is a huge step and something to be incredibly proud of. Your journey of life and healing are yours alone and you alone are the expert in all things you.
I will honour you and hold you in unconditional positive regard at all times during our work together because our differences are what makes us special and our humanity is what binds us all together.
Twiggy Sticks Maitland
The SUpport Pup
Twiggy is a Brussel Griffon who loves to give kisses and cuddles. Her breed is hypoallergenic. She does take time to warm up to men, so I don’t typically use her for male clients. If you think that you could benefit from her presence in session it may require scheduling considerations.
